Markus Krajewski studied law, economics and political science at the University of Hamburg (Germany) and the Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee (US). He obtained a Master degree (M.S.) in international affairs from FSU and his First Legal State Exam from in Hamburg. Subsequently he was Research Fellow at the Institute of International Affairs of the University of Hamburg and Legal Intern (Referendar) at the Hamburg Court of Appeals (Hanseatisches Oberlandesgericht Hamburg). He obtained his PhD in 2001 from the University of Hamburg.
Between 2001 and 2003 he taught German, European and international law as DAAD Lecturer for German Law at King's College London. In 2003 he moved to the University of Potsdam as Assistant Professor for Public, European and International Economic Law. Between 2008 and 2010 he was on leave from Potsdam to serve as a Guest Professor at the Collaborative Research Centre (Sonderforschungsbereich) Transformations of the State at the University of Bremen.
Since 2010 he is University Professor at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg and holds the Chair in Public Law and Public International Law.
Professor Krajewski teaches German constitutional and administrative law, European law, public international law and human rights. His research focusses on international economic law, human rights, European external relations and the law of public services. He wrote four books and authored numerous contributions in scholarly journals and edited volumes. He is co-editor of the European Yearbook of International Economic Law (EYIEL).
In 2007 Professor Krajewski joined the international faculty of the World Trade Institute in Bern (Switzerland) and continues to teach at the MILE programme. He serves on the International Trade Law Committee of the International Law Association (ILA) and chairs the Working Group on WTO law of the German ILA branch.
Professor Krajewski advises international governmental and non-governmental organisations on European and international economic law and acted as consultant in different development cooperation projects. In 2009/2010 he directed an EU-funded project on technical assistance to the Law Faculty, Addis Ababa University in Support of Ethiopia’s WTO Accession Process.
